Remember when I shared I felt I had died 5 times in the month of June?? Well, let’s just say ever since then, I have been transmuting, alchemizing, and transforming A LOT in the past few months.

As you know, I haven’t posted here in a longggg time. In the middle of August, I started my second semester at Lincoln Land Community College where I am teaching 7 voice students and a section of Music Appreciation for non-music majors. Although I am only on-campus 2 days a week, this change in my schedule has taken a major toll on my mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health. It’s all connected, right?

There have been many challenges that I won’t go into here because, well, it’s not the time or place, but these challenges have made me really reflect on my values and my purpose. I’ve had to shed a lot of old beliefs and acknowledge the ways that I have been hiding, running away, and distracting myself from living my truth and my purpose.

Growing up in the church with my Mom as my pastor, I watched her put everyone—her family and her church—before herself. For example, there were many times where she turned down raises and took less than her promised salary to protect the church. That’s just the kind of person she is. And even though I have struggled with that, it has influenced me in the ways that I have tried to run my business. So during this period of pause and reflection, I have come to many realizations and epiphanies that I am currently working on integrating.

Number one, I have changed the name of this publication to reflect who I believe I am today…

The Voice Doula

to educate, support, and guide others to reclaim vocal sovereignty and birth their dreams.

As The Voice Doula, I am stepping into my purpose as a community caregiver in my local community, as well as continuing to build community with others online. I will be committing my time and energy to showing up for myself, my family, and my communities more equipped than ever with my knowledge as a nervous-system informed and soul sensitive voice alchemist, birth justice doula, and somatic-spiritual practitioner.

My offerings include Tarot readings, crystal bowl Sound Bath Journeys, Voice Activations, Hi-Vibe Energy Healing sessions, as well as full spectrum birth justice doula support in 2024!

After my pregnancy and birth experience, I was inspired to become a certified full spectrum birth justice doula (trained by Sokana Collective - Chicago, IL), so that I could serve mothers, birthing people, and their families with evidence-based childbirth education that incorporates information about the Vocal-Vagus Nerve-Vaginal connection, as well as the relaxation properties of sound, that supported me in having the birth of my dreams.

Number two, I have completed the Level 1 Voice Sound Healing certificate with the Sound Healing Academy, which has supported my ongoing relationship with sound and has helped me begin a new journey as a sound bath facilitator with voice and crystal sound bowls.

Number three, I am not returning to LLCC for the Spring semester, so I can put all of my focus into co-creating and serving this community.
